Commissions

Process:

I find it easier both for myself and my subjects to work from photographs, but I do insist on taking them myself to ensure I have all the information I need.

Firstly, I would travel to you to meet the subject, get to know them a little, discuss your aspirations for the painting and take photographs. I’ll then work up a series of little oil sketches of different composition ideas to show you. With these we can discuss which is preferred for the final piece and make any adjustments needed. It’s a great opportunity to make sure we’re on the same page and happy with the direction I’m going in. If there’s more work to be done, I will happily come and meet you again, take more photos and work up new sketches until we are all content, at which stage I’ll move on to the final painting. I find this is a good process to keep communication open throughout and ensure no unexpected surprises at the unveiling!

Timing:

I would expect the whole process to take around 3 to 6 months.

Pricing:

Small head (approx 30x30cm) £4500

Head and shoulders (approx 40x60cm) £6500

Half figure (approx 80x100cm) £9500

Full figure (approx 100x130cm) £12,000 

Multiple figures as above plus 50% per additional person

The above pricing is the total amount and includes all tax, materials, framing and travel expenses within the UK.
